Integrating WordPress with Magento
Previously I was using the free AW Blog extension for Magento which works fine for a blog but it is fairly limited and not very good with SEO.
So while searching around I found another extension from FishPig called just that WordPress Integration. Which seemed simple enough to use and I didn’t see too many complaints in their reviews and comments so I decided to give it a try. I’m running the latest WordPress 3.3.1 and Magento 1.6 in two separate databases. This extension also supports having both installations in the same database if you would like. Installation was easy, after I installed the extension I simply entered my database details and changed my blog url to that of my blog. You need to keep the first url pointing to your wordpress installation and not your magento installation this confused me a bit and caused the auto login function to not work. I ended up with this error for a while:
DEBUG (7): RedirectController._loginToWordpress: Invalid response returned. Are the WP-Admin login details correct?
But After getting that fixed I had no issues connecting to the wp installation and everything seems to be working fine. All the blog posts you now see on the Markspixel Magento Blog http://markspixel.com/blog are actually from WordPress and I am currently writing this post in the WordPress dashboard. I would never have imagined it to be easier!
